Colorado statute requires each real estate licensee to complete 24-hours of approved continuing education each 3-year license period. Licensees must satisfy the continuing education requirement for a three-year license period before applying to renew an active license, to activate an inactive license or to reinstate an expired license to active status. A Licensee may satisfy the entire continuing education requirement through one of the following options:
(1) Completing the four-hour "Annual Commission Update" course once each year, three times in each licensing cycle (12 total hours). Licensees choosing this option must also complete an additional 12 hours of elective coursework to meet the 24-hour total continuing education requirement during the 3-year license period.
(2) Completing the Commission-approved 24-hour "Brokerage Administration" course. This option is permitted once (lifetime) to each licensee in lieu of the above requirements. The Brokerage Administration course is also required for license upgrade to Employing Broker.
(3) Pass the Colorado portion of the state examination.
4) Complete 72 Hours of pre-license education including 48 Hours of Colorado Contracts & Regulations and 24 Hours of Closings.
