The AREI mortgage broker licensing program is offered either classroom or online. Individual courses may be purchased at the course price listed under each course description below.
ONLINE PROGRAM: Our $299 online program is ideal for those unable to attend live classroom instruction and can be completed at your own pace. The online course is presented via streaming video and you may either download the text material direct from your personal web site or we will ship a hard copy for your convenience and reference.
CLASSROOM PROGRAM: The classroom course tuition is $399 including course materials. Live classroom presentations are offered days, weekends, or evenings.
The DAYTIME PROGRAM is offered 5 days over a 1.5 week period. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Our EVENING PROGRAM meets Monday through Thursday evenings 4:00 to 8:00pm for 2.5 weeks.
We also offer a WEEKEND PROGRAM with classes offered Fridays and Saturdays 8:00am to 5:00pm for 2.5 weeks.
REQUIRED COURSES:
State & Federal Laws & Regulations (19.5 Hours)
This course is designed to meet the statutory requirement for mortgage broker licensing. You will be exposed to all federal and state statutes regulating to the mortgage industry and understand the legal framework within which you must operate. The course will details such federal laws such as Equal Credit Opportunity, RESPA, Truth in Lending, Fair Housing and the Sherman Anti Trust Laws as well as Colorado Statutes and Rules governing mortgage broker activities. Mortgage Broker 101 (16 Hours)
Required as part of the pre-license requirement, this course explores the basics of mortgage brokerage by identifying the critical role mortgage brokers play in the housing industry, loan origination, source of funds, functions of the mortgage broker, mortgage terminology, qualifying borrowers, commonly used forms, underwriting considerations, and closing the loan transaction. Business and Trade Practices (4.5 Hours)
The final component of pre-license education, the Business and Trade Practices component discusses at length Predatory lending and mortgage fraud including types of fraud, fraud participants and red flags. The course includes fraud case studies and a review of appraisal related statutes affecting the mortgage broker. Course Tuition $50
